Padma Shri awardee and renowned heart transplant surgeon Dr. Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale has pledged to donate his body to the Guntur Medical College, setting a powerful example to inspire organ and body donation for medical education.

Dr. Gokhale announced his decision at the 5th Annual Meeting of the All India Body and Organ Donors Association in Guntur, where he was honored with the Savitribai Phule Lifetime Achievement Award for his exceptional contributions to medicine and his tireless efforts in promoting organ donation awareness.

“Don’t just ask people to donate organs—show them by example. I have the courage to donate my organs. Do you?” declared Dr. Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale, announcing his decision to donate his body to Guntur Medical College.

Government Support for Organ Donation:

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav praised Dr. Gokhale’s inspiring efforts at the event and encouraged more people to come forward for organ donation. He highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting donor families, suggesting financial assistance and job opportunities in outsourcing roles. The minister also stressed the importance of organ donation from brain-dead individuals, especially road accident victims, and how such donations can save many lives.
