Since time immemorial, the real-life achievements have inspired millions of stories, songs, and plays. They are the reason we fondly remember the heroes and their accomplishments. With a dash of drama, they entertain, question, enlighten and drives home an underlying message for the audience. Ravindra Bharathi on this October 11th had witnessed an interesting Play along the similar lines. Inspired by the First Heart Transplantation in Telangana & Andhra Pradesh performed by Dr. Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale, the Play ‘Guppendantha Gundelo’ told a compelling story about the importance of organ donation in this modern world.
Guppendantha Gundelo – Organ Donation and Heart Transplantation:
Though organ donation has been around for a few decades now, it is only with the help of organ transplantation procedures the donated organs can be used to improve the lives of patients. So naturally, a failed heart is nothing short of death sentence a few decades back, which is why heart transplantation procedure is considered cornerstone in organ transplant procedures. And expert Heart surgeons like Dr. Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale have been able to give a new life to the patients with end-stage heart failure.
Though this may sound easy on paper, the entire process of heart transplantation in India of the early 21st century is an extremely difficult process owing to the myriad of factors both human and technical. The Play ‘Guppendantha Gundelo’ succeeds is perfectly depicting the frantic and arduous search for the new heart for the transplant, emotional & tumultuous proceedings to transport it to the operation theatre in time and the importance of its success.
Organized on the eve of the 23rd anniversary of Sathkala Bharathi, the Play was described as ‘moving & inspirational’ by Minister Dr.Etela Rajender, the event’s Chief Guest. Presided by K.V. Ramanachari IAS, the event was a grand success with renowned Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon Dr. Alla Gopala Krishna Gokhale, Acharya, S. V Sathyanarayana, and Cardio-Surgeons Dr. A, Srinivasa Kumar, Dr. D. Seetharam have graced the event with their presence.
It was heartening to see modern stories take inspiration from real life accomplishments.
Because like everything withers with time and noise, but these stories will live forever to tell the tale of the hero and significance of his accomplishment.
